Fentanyl Abuse Linked to Heroin Addiction

There has been a huge spike in Fentanyl addiction and overdoses in New Hampshire, reported by special agent John DeLena of the DEA. They have reported that in the past, there was Fentanyl-laced heroin on the streets but the trend has shifted to heroin-laced Fentanyl making for a dangerous cocktail that has been labeled as China White, a pure form of heroin usually imported from China and Southeast Asia.

A good majority of the heroin coming into New Hampshire is coming from facilities based out of northern New Hampshire. These haphazard cutting techniques, mix a cocktail of Fentanyl cutting agents and Heroin usually crudely mixed in a blender making a product that ranges in purity and dosage. The same batch can have little effect on the user, and the next bag from the same batch can be a deadly mix of mainly Fentanyl, which even the life-saving drug Narcan won’t have much effect on bringing someone back. The latest statistics are being posted and there are 10 deaths confirmed so far in 2016 with 86 more cases pending so far in March this year. Last year there were 428 people who died from overdoses with 8 cases still pending results. New Hampshire is ranked 3rd highest per capita for overdose deaths nationwide. This number can only get lower with proper education training and Rehabilitation that is affordable and effective.
