Heroin Addiction Treatment Programs in New Jersey

There are many different styles of rehab programs for heroin addiction available in New Jersey. It is important for you to find the right treatment center to handle your heroin detox and usage. We are here to help you find the best solution for yourself or a loved one’s heroin addiction. Knowing the different options and choosing the best heroin addiction treatment center can be the difference between success and failure in recovery.

When searching for a drug rehab center in New Jersey, it is important to remember that not all heroin rehabs are the same. There will be some that will offer medical detox options while others will have a person tough out their withdrawal on their own. We have found that a 90-day heroin rehab can offer the best results for long-lasting sobriety. Finding the treatment that not only heals the body but also heals the mind, will be the difference between success and failure.

Often, once a person goes through the detox process, they will find themselves feeling “cured” and start not wanting to go through with treatment because they are “better now”. We strongly urge people to find an opioid treatment program that is at least a long drive away from home, to make the person have a chance to think about leaving a program before they make a seriously bad decision to leave before the heroin rehab is completed. This is where we can help.

Heroin Detox Centers in New Jersey

Treating heroin addiction in New Jersey will involve many steps to make the recovery process effective. For most people, there will be a need for a medical detox to alleviate the symptoms of Heroin withdrawal. Heroin addiction can sometimes include other drugs so it is very important to make sure that you disclose all of the drugs you are currently using and have taken in the past 6 months. This will help the detox center for heroin addiction, better diagnose and prescribe the best medications to make your detox go smoothly and as pain-free as possible.

Do not try to detox on your own. Heroin withdrawal can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the length of heroin use and the amount of heroin being abused on a daily basis.

Inpatient Heroin Rehabs

Detox should be followed by an extensive stay at a Heroin Inpatient treatment program. Private Inpatient drug rehabs offer the best results for long-lasting sobriety from a Heroin addiction.

Most of the people who have fought with heroin addiction have one thing in common: They recovered from their addiction at an inpatient heroin rehab center. Some people can find sobriety in an outpatient treatment program but due to the temptations and availability to go find heroin, this type of program is less effective in treating the addiction as a whole.  The typical stay for someone recovering from heroin addiction can vary from center to center and usually consists of 30-90 day programs.

Heroin addiction medications and uses

Sometimes a medical intervention can be used to help wean a person off of heroin at a slower rate, alleviating the withdrawal symptoms normally associated with a Heroin Detox.

Buprenorphine: Being an opioid, Buprenorphine accesses the same receptors in the brain that heroin interacts with. This allows for a seemingly painless transition while managing cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

Methadone: Over the last few decades, this drug has become a bit controversial due to the fact that the body can build up a tolerance quickly if taken too often and is under investigation for being potentially addictive. Methadone is considerably stronger than Buprenorphine but works in the same manner, offering alleviated symptoms from withdrawal.

Naltrexone: Designed to block opioid receptors, blocking the effects that would normally take place once Heroin or an opioid is entered into the system. Also used in treating alcoholism.

Suboxone: Specifically designed to work in combination with Buprenorphine and Naltrexone. This combination of drugs not only manages the addiction but also alleviates the temptation to use heroin due to the opioid-blocking drug Naltrexone.

The Heroin Epidemic Reaches New Jersey

With the recent discovery of heroin laced and cut with  Elephant tranquilizers in Ohio, officials are worried about the heroin in their own counties being cut with Carfentanil. Sources are not confirming if the Heroin in New Jersey is from the same source, due to the close proximity Ohio is to New Jersey. Officials are on the lookout and currently testing the seized Heroin to see how much of the drug, Carfentanil, is in the New Jersey illegal heroin supply. Currently, it is becoming harder and harder to find Heroin that has not been cut with Fentanyl and this has led to a huge spike in heroin-related overdoses and deaths throughout the state.
Heroin addiction treatment and recovery programs are offering an option for heroin addicts to receive treatment for their addictions. The state of the heroin epidemic in New Jersey is dire and is in serious need of attention before the state gets caught in an epidemic the likes of which has never been seen before. With the recent crackdown on prescription drugs, there has been a steady increase in heroin-related deaths and crimes throughout the state.

It is becoming increasingly harder to find Heroin that has not been cut with Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a very strong opioid that is cheap to make and increases the potency of street Heroin. Heroin addicts are not like other drug addicts. They will hear of someone who overdosed on a bag of heroin and actively try to find the heroin responsible, chasing the better high. This leads to even more overdoses and deaths.

Getting people the help that they need in New Jersey,  is the only answer to the epidemic that our state is facing. Treatment and Detox options in the state are experiencing an overwhelming need for more beds and detox centers.  With the federal government trying to allocate more funding for Heroin and opioid treatment throughout the country, we may get the much-needed funding to handle our own problem here in New Jersey.

Below we have listed a few rehabs, detox centers, and their locations. We will keep updating our list for the recent bed openings. As treatment programs for heroin addiction open up in the state, we will be adding them to our newest list of free and private treatment programs. We also have lists of state-funded drug rehabs in New Jersey that are able to handle Heroin addiction and rehabilitation needs for heroin addicts. For more information about the free services, the state of New Jersey offers for heroin addicts to receive treatment call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will get you in touch with the best treatment program for heroin addiction in the state of New Jersey.
