Who determines the need for medical detox at the Christian treatment center?
Determining if a medical detox is necessary before treatment for the addiction can be started, is usually done by a trained and certified intake counselor and can, in most cases, be determined by phone consultation or even through e-mail in special cases. What is a Medical Detox?
Medical detox is a medication-assisted withdrawal protocol designed to specifically assist and stem the seemingly overwhelming pain and medical problems that are associated with the sudden decline of intake of the substance in question. Will the Detox process be painful?
When coming down or withdrawing from drugs or alcohol can be associated with being sick and having painful muscle cramps, uncontrollable anxiety, sleeplessness, seizures, and even death in some rare cases. With a medically supervised medicated withdrawal the symptoms that are associated with detox are alleviated and even in some cases, be completely painless and symptom-free during their stay. In most cases, you will feel minimum withdrawal symptoms while in medical detox.Rapid Detox
Drug and Alcohol Detoxification has long been accepted as an essential, although often difficult, first step toward recovery from addiction. In the absence of professional medical assistance, most will fail in an attempt to free themselves from the grip of drug and/or alcohol addiction. Successful detoxification is essential before long-term recovery can begin.
Rapid Detox is not a “cure” for addiction. Detoxification is the first step in a process that is necessary to engage oneself in rehabilitation. Designed to reduce withdrawal symptoms for individuals dependent on heroin, methadone, Oxycontin, opium, Percocet / Percodan, or codeine; anesthesia-assisted opiate detoxification allows for engagement in a variety of aftercare programs aimed at placing drug addiction into remission.
The purpose of Rapid Detox is simple: to reduce, minimize, or eliminate altogether, the signs and symptoms associated with opiate withdrawal. This decreases the chances of relapse and increases the likelihood of a full recovery. Rapid Detox is not intended to replace a fully comprehensive treatment and recovery program. It is simply “a ‘procedure’ designed to help an individual tolerate the withdrawal symptoms from opiates with much greater comfort.”
Anesthesia Rapid Detox Procedure Or Ultra Rapid Detox
“Anesthesia Assisted Opiate Detoxification” is the first step, representing only the beginning of a long process of healing and recovery. Once an individual is ‘clean’ of opiates, it is always recommended they make some form of counseling their next step in the recovery process. Aftercare is a paramount component of the recovery process!
(AAROD) , sometimes known as (UROD) is a fast detox alternative to rapidly detox the body from opiates in 6 hours or less. (AROD) is done under anesthesia and is done under the strict medical care of a doctor anesthesiologist and a nurse. Our staff is trained and certified in the AAROD procedures so the client can be assured that their detox will be safe and effective. The latest technology is utilized to assure that the procedure is done effectively and safely.
When you arrive at the detox center you will be met by the licensed anesthesiologist and nurse to discuss and prepare you for the procedure. The patient is then medically assisted to sleep for 6 hours and the detox protocol process starts.
Once under general anesthesia and deep sedation, the opiate antagonist is administered, and a strict formula of medications is specifically designed to flush out the patient’s opiate receptors. There are two nurses who are present during the whole procedure, monitor the patient’s vitals, and make sure that the procedure is flawless in its execution. Once the procedure is complete, the patient usually stays for 24-48 hours for observation and monitoring to make sure that the detox is successful.
AAROD has been used for over 10 years and is now becoming more mainstream for detox procedures. The length of stay at an AAROD detox facility is usually 48 hours and the length of stay at a normal opiate detox is 5-10 days depending on the usage.
After detox is completed it is highly recommended that a follow-up treatment plan is in place to handle the issues that are still not handled even though you feel great. Rapid detox or AAROD is in no way a treatment for addiction, it just handles the physical manifestations that are associated with withdrawal from opiates.
Detox is in no way treatment for addiction to drugs or alcohol, it is what it is, a means of getting rid of the physical manifestations and pain that are associated with a steady decline of the substance that is being abused. It is highly recommended that you seek treatment in one of our Christian treatment centers before you go to a detox center. This will allow for an easy transition into treatment without the temptation that can lead to poor choices once again. The doctors will help you feel better but only by the grace of God and through the love of our Lord Jesus Christ will you become totally free from the addiction to drugs or alcohol.
